Who can play?
The idea of the Veterans League or lower-level league is to provide players with the platform to have the same VTF League atmosphere as all the other players in our other leagues.
How The VTF 8 A-Side League Will Run:
- The VTF League will last for 11 weeks
- You play every team ONCE (7 Fixtures)
- After the 7 Fixtures, the table is split into the TOP TEAMS 1st-4th & the BOTTOM 4 TEAMS 5th-8th
- At this point, the top 4 & bottom 4 teams play their remaining fixtures against each other (3 Fixtures)
- After the split, the bottom 4 teams, 5th-8th, can not go above the top 4 teams
- After the 10 Fixtures, we have our VTF Sunday Night League Standings
- VTF Cup Week 11
- Games will be 50 minutes (2 Minute half-time)
- The max match squad size is 14, and you're allowed unlimited rolling subs
- We provide the match official and all the equipment. There's nothing for you to worry about, except turning up
- Matches will be on VTF's YouTube channel
- The table will be updated after every match day on the VTF Website
- Every once in a while a crisis will strike and you'll be short a player or two. If so, please message VTF ASAP, as we may be able to find you a late replacement
- For match queries, we will always have a coordinator on hand at the venue
- We aim to create an informal atmosphere of competitive fun

Match Rules:
Time:
⏱50 Minute game (half time 2 minutes)
⌚️Be on time 10-15mins before kick-off. The game will kick off at the scheduled time
✅ Ok to score in the area, normal 11-a-side rules
❌ No aggressive behaviour
✅ Everyone must play fair, respect their teammates and opponents
❌ No Slide Tackles (Slides to block a shot are allowed if not endangering an opponent) Referees Discretion
✅ Unlimited substitutions are allowed as long as the referee is made aware of the changes/ Must be in possession
✅ Substitutes must enter and leave the field of play at the referee's discretion
✅ Substitutions can only be made when play has stopped
✅ There are NO OFFSIDES. However, ❌ Goal hanging will be given as offside. Goal hanging is a player who always stays very close to the opposing team's goal, waiting for an opportunity to score. Blatant goal hanging will be given as offside
✅ Please respect the referee. Dissent will not be tolerated. All refereeing decisions are final
✅ Any player is allowed in the penalty area. An offence by a defending player in the penalty area will result in a penalty kick
✅The back-pass rule applies – an indirect free kick shall be awarded to the attacking team if the goalkeeper picks up a back pass
✅ A goal can be scored directly from any kick-off
✅ Any free-kick is direct and the defending team must retreat at least 5 yards from the ball (where possible)
Players & Equipment:
- A team can have a maximum of 14 players in its matchday squad
- All players must wear the same colour shirts (except GK). Bibs will be available if required
- All players are advised to wear shin pads. All players playing without shin pads play at their own risk
- Footwear; Moulded boots or Astroturf trainers, no metal studs are permitted
Borrowing Players:
- If a team has 8 players they are not allowed to borrow players to be substitutes
- If a team does not have enough players they may wish to borrow a player from another team. In this case, the team must get permission from the opposition. This must be witnessed by the organiser/referee.
Ineligible Players:
❌ If a player has played for another team in the same season that player can not transfer to another team in the same season
✅ If a player wishes to play for another team, you must let the league organiser know and the opposing team captain must agree to this as well
❌ If you play an ineligible player the match will be reviewed. If knowingly this player played the result would be a 3-0 loss
Discipline:
All caution details are reported to the coordinator at the end of each game
- Yellow Card: a 5-minute sin bin and you must play that 5 minutes with 7 players
- Red Card: the player will play no further part in the game and you must finish the match with 7 players. If the player is sent off for violent conduct the organiser will be notified and his suspension will be determined the next day. The organiser can suspend this player for one match or the entire league depending on the severity

Fees:
- Every team will have to pay 550 euros before the start of the season. This ensures no teams drop out halfway through the season and disrupt the league set-up. If they do, we can organise friendlies to ensure no team has no match.
